Pop Art

Andy Warhol's soup can, considered a game changing work of art, still mesmerizes viewers today.  Warhol once said that he wanted to "be a machine," and he concerned himself with removing all traces of the human hand from his works of art.  He switched his techniques in order to give his work a precise machine generated look.  For instance, look at the soup can painting above, it looks as if it was printed instead of being a painting.  Why would an artist do this?  Make an educated guess to as to why you think Warhol changed his way of making art? Help me to understand your thinking by providing details.
