My first impression of this drawing was I see other things inside of the body. The stronger elements are lines, shapes, contrast, unity, balance, emphasis, pattern, texture, value, space ,rhythm, and form. The artist use line to form the drawing they wanted it to make. The subject matter of this drawing because it represent of what we doing in class. This drawing is a complex drawing because its might be to hard for me to draw it out. Yukhanyan's resemble what we doing currently in class because we practicing on how to make shapes in other things. Yes, I agree because it does required a lot of skill to complete and yes, I agree again because the drawing have more skill and process. My outlook on the drawing changed by me looking at the picture that it have a lot of things in the inside of the body. And no. - Aynia Mccarter

I agree with this comment because it does required a lot of skill to complete this drawing like the arts did.
I agree with you because the drawing is not easy to do it will require a lot of skills.

DeleteI agree with the drawing has more than one element. Also that the drawing is very complex due to how detail it is and it's true you need to have skills to be able to pull off a drawing like this. There is a lot of process because the artist added so much more to than you would think because when you first look at it you focus on the goat and octopuses due to the shading but when you look for a second time you get to see the details behind all of the drawing. The background how more to it than what you see the first and also inside the shading part of the drawing.

My first impression of this drawing was what is it ? the first thing to catch my eyes was the octopus . The stronger elements in the drawing is the shading . The artist used both straight and wavy lines . I Think it’s a complex drawing because it does look more on the difficult side . Yukhanyans resembles what we’re doing in class because we’re also learning how to use line . I do think that this drawing took plenty of skill to accomplish . After viewing the pictures from a closer ranger my outlook still remained the same .
I agree with you because in my opinion I think the same that it took the artist plenty of skill to accomplish it.

DeleteI can relate to your first impression, my impression was very similar to yours.
I agree with you because I also think that the artist used curvy and straight lines to create this art piece.
DeleteI agree with you about the shading being the stronger element due to the shading making the drawing more focus on the goat and octopuses because there the only one's really shaded in. And yes it does take skills to accomplish to complete this drawing.

My first impression of this drawing is how complex it is. The stronger elements that I notice in this drawing are contrast, line, and shape, contrast because the drawing is in black and white, shape because all the different animals that are used to make the goat, octopus, and the background, and line because it divides each of the animal and faces shapes that are used to compose the goat, octopus and background, and when you look closer at the drawing you can distinguish those images rather than just seeing the drawing as a whole. The artist uses line to separate the animals and faces that are used to compose the entire drawing such as the goat, octopus, and background. This is a complex drawing because of all the shapes that were used to create the main drawing that you see before looking at it closely, and because you can have many perceptions about depending on how you see it. Yukhanyan's resembles what we are currently doing in class because of the line that is being used and currently we are working on our preliminary straight and curved line drawings. I would agree that this drawing took a lot of skill because of how the artist used other animals, shapes, and faces to create the two main animals you see which are the octopuses and goat. I would disagree that this drawing is more about skill and process rather than the subject or meaning because there is a backstory as to why the artist chose to compose the octopuses and goat of other animals, shapes, and faces.

DeleteI do agree with your reasoning for why you chose contrast, lines, and shapes in your drawing since their is obviously a lot of contrast of black and white which really does help the artwork seem more appealing to the naked eye and just overall more fascinating.

My first impression to this piece of art was “oh it’s a goat”. Then I paid close attention and seen a lot of different animals. The stronger elements on this piece of art is contrast, and line. Contrast is strong because it’s just a drawing of black and white. It’s also line because it has all type of lines but most of them are curved and wavy. The artist uses line by making them wavy and making shapes out of them. The author uses line to separate each of the animals by making the main focus the goat. This is a complex drawing because the artist used a lot of different shapes and lines to create one specific thing which is difficult. Yukhanyan art resembles what we are doing in class because it uses straight, curvy, and wavy lines and we are doing drawing just using lines. I would agree that this took the artist lots of skill because of how he made a background or pure animals which makes it even more difficult .
I agree with the statement you made about the goat being the main focus because my eyes were immediately drawn to the goat, but later wondered around the drawing and noticed the octopuses, and other animals and shapes that were used to compose the goat, octopuses, and background.
DeleteI also agree with your statement about the goat being the main focus because that’s also what I saw first before seeing the drawing closer and it being more detailed. I then saw how so many other animals and drawings combined to make just the main focus of the goat.
DeleteI strongly agree with you because I also see a complex drawing as we’ll as you do !
DeleteI strongly agree with you because my reaction was the same as yours. My eyes were directly brought to the center which is the goat, I then paid close attention and seen all the other animals inside the goat. I would also agree line is one of the stronger elements because it creates different type of shapes.

My first impression of this drawing is that he drawing has a lot of detail and contrast. The stronger elements of this drawing is the shape and contrast because the shape make the image more easy to look at. The contrast make the image have more texture to the drawing. The line that the artist use in the drawing makes it more realistic. The subject matter of this drawing is the different kind of style that the artwork has. I think this is a complex drawing because the artist is using a lot of different type of line. Yukanyan’s resemble what are currently doing in class because the work we are doing is about lines. I will agree that this drawing tack skill because the drawing has smaller drawing in side the big drawing .
I can relate to your observation that the drawing does have a lot of contrast because when I first saw the drawing, I immediately noticed that the only colors used were black and white.
DeleteRamon Joseph Lucero - Period 6
DeleteI do agree with Raul because of how the contrast with black and white help one another out to make the artwork seem realistic as well as gives it a 3 dimensional look to it and just the overall complexity of the image with the various details incorporated into the artwork.
I would agree with you because contrast helped the drawing look way better.
DeleteRamon Joseph Lucero - Period 6
ReplyDeleteMy overall first impression of this artwork would be just how it seemed like a normal deer with octopus on it, although I looked closer and it seems to show images of animals, people, and hybrid like animals like a human body attached to a goose's head. I do believe that the artist did use these images for a specific message that they wanted to display to the viewer. The artist used contrast, lines, and shape, the reason why i chose contrast would be how in the deer the different tones of black and white help the deer seem realist as well as 3 dimensional. I chose lines and shape also because of how the lines help create the images that surround the deer and shapes since there are various shapes that are organic that help just give the artwork more details and just more to it in general and cause the viewer to be more fascinated with the artwork because of the various other images within the artwork. The artist uses lines to help make the artwork since it helps create the various shapes and also the angles of certain parts to make them seem better. This artwork would be a complex artwork since as a whole there's a lot of details and also just the overall deer and the octopus which is shaded just right with precision and helps the artwork seem complex. Yukhanyan artwork resembles what we are doing in class because we are focusing on creating art with lines and curved lines as well which is what Yukhanyan is creating with his artwork. I would agree that this specific artwork would be hard to create and does take skill to create since you must know exactly what you want to create but i do believe that their is a message behind this artwork which must be very meaningful.
I agree with your reasoning as to why you thought the artist used contrast, lines, and shapes because the contrast does make the goat look more realistic, and the line and shape do give the drawing more detail.
DeleteI would also agree that there must be a meaning behind composing the goat and octopuses out of other animals, shapes, and faces because if there wasn't a meaning why didn't the artist just compose the goat and octopuses as a whole rather than little individual drawing to make a whole.
DeleteOh, wow. Your observations just made me look at the drawing differently. I actually did not take a look at it from a closer perspective to analyze it carefully so I did not notice how the deer is made of animals and other stuff as such. This artist is unbelievable. They just keep fascinating me. Their work of art is something else, it is so beautifully done. I just took a quick look of the drawings and it was intriguing but now that I analyzed it further, I am just in wow of how amazing their works of art are.
DeleteI agree, when first looking at the drawing all I saw was the goat. But as I took more time to look around it I noticed everything else.

ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw the image I thought it was kind of ugly but when I looked at it more carefully I saw it differently, it's a pretty cool image. The strong elements I see are line, shape, and value. I definitely think this picture is very complex. It uses a lot of different drawings to create the bigger picture. This resembles to what we are doing in class now because it uses a lot of line and curved lines. I would think that this drawing required a lot of skill because it uses a lot of detail . So I think the drawings consists more of skill and process than subject or meaning.
I would respectfully disagree that the drawing consist of more skill and process rather than subject or meaning because there has to be a backstory as to why the artist chose to compose the background, goat, and octopuses out of other animals and shapes rather than just drawing the goat and octopuses itself.

I disagree with Donna and Evelyn A. because although it did require a lot of skill and effort to draw every detail within this drawing, there still has to be a meaning to this as in why the author decided to draw this, rather than him just drawing all these animals just because and choosing the goat and octopuses to be the bigger focus.

ReplyDeleteMy first impression when I saw the firstt drawing drawn by Armenian artist Davit Yukhanyan I said that it was dope. The stronger elements used in this drawing is contrast, line and shading. The artist used lines because he made lots of shapes out of it. The artist shades things in to make it look better. This is a complex drawing because it catches the viewers attention fast. The artist resembles what we are doing in class because it uses curves lines , wavy lines, and etc. I would agree that the artist took skill in this because it looks very cool. My outlook has changed on these drawing because it started to look more interesting. In my Opinion these drawings are very interesting.
Indeed, these drawings are very interesting, not only that but it is just insane to think that someone is this talented. The artist is very talented and has the eye to make visually appealing drawings that are able to be seen as meticulous drawings due to its line work. It does catch the viewer's attention fairly quickly because of the variety of elements and principles used.
DeleteThat's a very interesting question, because my first impression of this drawing was that that was insane. Taking a quick glance at it, I was just impressed because it is a very meticulous drawing that grabs the viewer's eyes indefinitely. The stronger elements of this drawing are line, value, space, and texture. This meticulous drawing has fine detail and is all combined beautifully to create a piece of art that shows very precise lines and etc. Line is most definitely used to make this, because of the combination of lines, whatever the shape or etc. There is value to this drawing because there is no added color but black and white, therefore, that creates contrast. The space around lines and etc, allows or the image to have a realistic feel to it. The meticulous lines allows for the viewer to see texture, although it's just the amount of detail given to this art piece. The artist uses line by a combination of tiny lines to make depth and so much other detail that gives the viewer an appealing piece of art to look at. The subject matter of this drawing is much more than just a deer with octopus lying around. I think there's a stronger meaning to it like being graceful or the beauty of nature while, the octopus probably represents intelligence and emotions. While putting these together, the artist was probably trying to send a much bigger message. To me, this is a complex drawing, just because of the fact that I don't think anyone can do such a fine job with all that line work that was included here. Yukhanyan's drawing resembles what we are currently working on in class because of the use of only curves and lines that aren't straight. I most definitely would agree that this drawing requires a lot of skill to complete, because not anyone can be able to pay attention to so much detail and be able to make it a wholesome meticulous drawing. Yes, I would agree that that this drawing is more about skill and process rather than the subject or meaning.
ReplyDeleteThose pieces of art are just insane. It is unbelievably crazy to think that someone is able to do that. I mean the use of the elements and principles are coherently combine to make these pieces of art visually appealing. My outlook on these drawings haven't changed, it just made me see how talented you have to be to create such masterpieces. My answers stayed fairly the same, because such meticulous drawings require skill and process.

DeleteI would also agree with you that this drawing took a lot of skills to draw because of the detail and effort the artists put into his work. It must’ve taken a long time for him to be so careful that it can’t be seen quickly to a human eye , that you have to really take your time to observe the drawing and see the details within the main art.

My first impression when I saw this drawing was that it looks cool. The strongest elements of this drawing are contrast, line, and shape. It shows contrast because the art piece is in black and white. It shows line because the artists had to use mostly all 4 types of lines, parallel, horizontal, vertical or perpendicular to draw this.He used line by separating the animals to create the main focus of the goat. He also uses shape to create the animals, like the octopus, goat and the drawings within the art. I think this drawing is a complex one because the viewer is seeing a main focus of art but really there’s more within the art. It’s hidden art to the human eye. This relates to what we are doing in class because he uses line is his drawing a lot , and in class we are working on our curved and straight lines drawings. I do agree that this drawing did require a lot of skill to complete because he had to use hidden art to create the main focuses we see like the goat or octopus. I do also agree that this drawing is more about skill and process rather then the meaning behind it. After viewing the further images my outlook changed by seeing that there’s more to this drawing.
I agree with this person point of view because this does have 4 types of elements. Also the main focus is on the goat because how the goat has an bigger image then the other animals
DeleteI agree with you because like you said the goat is the main focus because that's the first thing I saw and said the same thing that it looks cool.
DeleteI agree with Madelyne because I also thought hat it looked cool. I also agree because there are 4 types of different elements on this drawing.
DeleteI would disagree with Madelyne because I feel as though that although this drawing does require skill it also require more of a meaning or motive to draw that image
DeleteI disagree with Madelyne because I don’t think that the drawing is more about skill and process. I feel that it would be more about the meaning behind it as in why the artist drew what he drew, although it did require a lot of skill.

My first impression about the drawing is that its a nice drawing because the way you see drawing using art and how they only use pencil to draw.If you look in the background of drawing you can see kings staring at the different animals seeing what type of animals they are. This art means a lot because how it was made by dark and light drawing which has contrast. This drawing has thick and thin lines to make it and also the emphasis of the drawing lines.

ReplyDeleteMy first impression of this art was wow and it look like it related to cutholo. The strongest elements of this drawing is movement, shape, and texture because it brings it life and a meaning to it. The artist use lines to shape out the bodies and use it in the background. He also use lines to make texture. The subject that matter to this drawing is line and what you can make of it. This drawing is complex because it's hard make and it take up alot of time to do it. He is using lines to create his drawing like we are trying to do. I agree that this drawing required a lot of skills to complete it because that guy have a lot of practice. I also agree but disagree that this drawing is more about skills and process rather than the subject or meaning. It change that it's not related to cutholo but it show us how our imagination goes wild. None of my answer has change.
I agree with you that this drawing is complex because I believe that not many can be able to draw it exactly like this. I also disagree with you at a point because this drawing can have billions of meaning behind it but only the artist will know what they are. Also, it does take many skills to be able to draw like this but in reality there can only be one that can truly understand this and be able to explain what it is.

My first impression of this drawing was that it looked cool and unique. This drawing shows strong elements like contrast; because of the shading colors used in this drawing black and white, shape; by all the animals drawn on the art piece and line; it uses curved and wavy lines. Line is used here by separating each drawing into details. The subject of matter in this drawing is the goat. It’s the first thing I see when I look at this drawing. I think that this is a complex drawing because it must have taken a long time to do and a lot of patience to be very detailed. This resembles to what we are doing in class because we are using curved and wave lines to do our drawings. I would agree that this requires a lot of skill to complete. I do think that this is more about skill and process rather then the subject or meaning because I don’t think there is any meaning behind it. My first impression of this drawing was that it was just a goat on top of a octopus on it but I looked closing and I saw there was more animals and saw people. I would have to say the stronger elements are contrast and lines. Contrast is one of the stronger elements because the drawing is in black and white, Line is the other stronger elements because they are different types of lines like curve and also it was used to make different types of shapes. I think the subject matter of this drawing is the goat, the octopus, and everything that inside them. This is a complex drawing because most likely it took hours to do the drawing and there is a lot of detail in the drawing. ReplyDeleteMy first impression of this drawing was “that looks dope it’s a goat but with what else? What are all those drawings in the back ground?”. The stronger elements of this drawing are lines, shape, proportion and movement. These are the stronger elements because the shapes give it creativity, the lines are in different forms to give the picture movement, proportion is used because of the size the artist decides to draw the main focus and the rest of the drawings such as the background how he draws them little compared to the main focus in the middle which is the goat. The artist uses lines by creating different shapes with the different form of lines. The subject matter of this drawing is the goat and octopus and everything in the center. In my opinion I believe this is a complex drawing because of all the details it has and the different sizes and shapes and lines that is used in this drawing. It looks like it took him a while to draw this. Yukhanyan’s resembles what we are doing in class because he is using lines, and also curve lines. Which is what we are doing in class, using curved lines. I would agree that this drawing is required a lot of skill because of every different type of element and principle that is required in order to complete this drawing. I would agree that this drawing is more about skill than the actual meaning of the drawing. My outlook on the drawing changes just a bit because of all the details and different animals that are used inside the main focus. No answers have changed from the questions above.

My first impression of the drawing is, “ Wow that looks cool ”. Then as I continue to look at it I think of how long it may have taken and its supposed to represent. The stronger elements of this drawing are form, texture, space, color, contrast, and line. These elements are the most strongest because they help identify/give meaning to the art. The artist uses line to create many images of different things such as emperors, kings, warriors, octopus’, and a ram as the main focus. The subject matter of this drawing is is the ram and the octopus’ climbing on it. In my opinion, since I don’t draw often this piece looks very complicated and has lots of detail. Another reason for it looking difficult to draw to me is the way the value is being used around the ram and making it stand out more than the other images behind it. Yukhanyan's resemble what we are doing in class because we are learning how to use the elements and principles of art to create amazing looking pieces like his, while at the same time trying to figure out our true passion and putting it into a work of art. I believe the drawing does take lots of skill to complete because the whole point of being skilled is knowing how to use the elements and principles of art. I would have to disagree that this drawing is more about skill and process rather than the subject or meaning. This piece is solely based on meaning something to the artist, if didn’t have any meaning I don’t think there would be so much detail. Not only that but I truly believe that any drawing created in general has meaning to it, there’s always an intention. After viewing the images up closer, it still doesn’t change my perspective on how I view this drawing and it sort of proves my point of being having to be skilled to make this work of art.
I kind of agree with you when you said the drawing is more about it's subject and meaning rather than about skill and process because I see where you're coming from. But I still disagree because the piece of art looks like it took a lot of patience and skill. Many people aren't gifted with those acts, they tend to give up when something comes out wrong.

My first impression in this drawing was that it very beautiful & very interesting because of the little drawings in the image placed throughout the image. The stronger elements shows throughout this art is Lines, value, shape,& space. These are the strongest elements shown throughout this images because the image is drawn in black & white so the value is important in this image, also shape and & space because in the image shapes and space are used to form the animals and the small images through the animals.Line is the most important because that what's used to form the animals and the background. The artist uses line to complete the forms of the animals such as the Goat, and Octopus and also all the other images shown through the image. The subject matter of this images would just be animals because if you look closely you can see multiple animals throughout the image. This is a very complex image because the artist isn’t going for a simple drawing the artist uses lots of lines, shapes, and forms.Yukhanyan resemble what we are currently doing in class because we are learning how to include multiple elements into are drawings.I do agree that this image does take a lot of skill but I think that I would disagree that this drawing is more about skill and process but rather subject or meaning because every artwork has meaning behind it.After viewing this image my outlook on this image still stands as is .None of my answers from above have change by viewing the image.
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to agree with you in that the drawing is more about meaning then skill because the drawing could've been made out of random small drawings with the artist having no plan for them for all we know. ReplyDeleteMy first impression about this drawing was “wow, this is such a peculiar drawing. Who would think of this?”. Like the thought of these two things combines are really a strange kind of thing to do. The elements that are standing out in this piece of art is form, space and value. Form is taken into the horns of the goat that is shown above, including the hairs and it’s ears. Space takes place in the background where the different types of animals and mammals are drawn also within the few humans that are drawn into it. Value is part of this art piece because it shows the contrast on the goat and on the octopuses/squids so that it can show emphasis on them instead of the background of the mixture of the animals, mammals, and the humans. This artist uses curved and texture lines. The subject matter of this art piece is a portrait because it shows the emphasis on the goat and the octopuses/squids and it’s a portrait of an animal and a mammal. This is a complex drawing because it has a full goat with octopuses/squids and a background full of random things that are very peculiar in a way that I believe no one will think about while drawing. Yukhanyan’s drawing resembles what we are learning in class because it shows the texture in the fur of the goat’s beard and the curved lines in the the octopuses’/squids’ tentacles. This drawing required a lot of skills to be drawn because it has a lot of things that not many people can actually do and create. This drawing does have a meaning but that meaning only the artist knows it. Maybe a few other artists have found a meaning behind it and have also created their own meaning.
i really enjoyed your comment and i agree with how the artist who created their own arts knows the meaning of their message in the art they made because many artist know what the message they created and many few people might know the message of what the artist is saying.

My first impression was what is that. The stronger elements are lines, shape, and contrast. The artist used straight lines. In my opinion the subject matter is showing us the different types of lines and shading. In my opinion the drawing is complex because if you look inside the goat there is many more smaller drawing which probably took a few hours to do and the shading in the drawing.Yukhanyan's drawing represents the different lines, space, shading.I wouldn't say you need alot of skills to do this it would just be time consuming.

ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw the drawing I didn't really think much of it. I was curious as to why all these different animals were placed around each other. But then my thoughts started progressing, I actually became more interested when taking a closer look at the drawing. I started finding the drawing really cool because the animals were being made out of other animals, faces, babies, skeletons and more. Throughout the drawing there were many strong elements being used. Some of those would be value, and lines. But I believe the strongest element used was texture. Although there is seen being used a lot of value to make shadows, there is still more texture. The drawing uses lines by shaping the animals. It is used to outline the animals that are on top of each other. In my opinion the subject matter is the many drawings within the drawing, It would be the different faces, animals, and babies being used to create the bigger picture. Thus bigger picture would be the larger animals in the center. This drawing is a complexed drawing because it seems as if the drawing took many hours or days to draw. It is very detailed. Yukhanyan's drawing resembles what we are currently learning because in both, elements and principles are being used. A few elements used in the drawing are again texture, line, value and form. Some principles used are contrast, emphasis, movement, unity and balance. In class we took notes on all these elements and principles. We are also using these elements and principles in our own drawings. I do agree that this drawing required a lot of skill to complete. I would again also agree that the drawing is more about skill and the process. After viewing the images my outlook on the drawing has changed. My interest has only increased. All of my answers to the previous questions have not changed at all.

My first impression of this drawing is how the detail was made in this drawing. The stronger elements is in this drawing are line, form, and value because in this art it show the detail of the elements in this art The artist use the line of straight and curve. The subject is the Meaning of life.It complex because the detail of how it was drawn. Yukhanyan resemble of what we are learning in class of the element of art .I agree that the drawing required skill to draw it and agree that the drawing more about skills and process to make it. When looking at a different viewing of the drawing their is a lot of other drawing in the body of the goat and the octopuses but it doesn't change my answers.

My first impression to this piece of art was oh it’s just a goat. Then I looked close and seen a lot of different animals. The stronger elements on this piece of art is contrast, and line. Contrast is strong because it’s just a drawing full of darkness and lightness. The artist uses lines by making shapes out of them. This is a complex drawing because the artist used a lot of different shapes to create different and complicated animals. Yukhanyan's resembles what we are doing in class because of the line that is being used and our preliminary straight and curved line drawings. I would agree that this took the artist lots of skill because of how he made a the animals connect which makes it even more difficult.
When I first saw the drawing i thought it was pretty unique, for the fact that there’s a couple of octopuses on a deer for no reason. I’d say the stronger elements of the drawing are value, line, and space. Value is present in the shading of the drawings making parts of the deer darker than other spots, making it look realistic. Space is used with the smaller drawings within and around the deer and octopuses making them look darker or lighter as a whole and making them take the shape of the octopuses and the deer. Line is used to direct the viewer’s eyes towards the octopuses with the line of the horns, and is also used to create an illusion of movement with the octopuses tentacles. I believe the subject matter of the drawing is the perspective we take on the drawing, and the different images we see and how it all comes together into one bigger picture, it depends on how we look at it. I’d say this drawing is a complex one due to all the elements and smaller drawings used to create this simple looking picture at a first glance. Yukhanyan’s drawing resembles what we are currently doing in class because we are currently creating complicated images using only a small and simple element, which is line. Overall, I’d say this drawing would take a lot of skill to complete because you’d have to master value to create the shading and have an idea of what you’re doing, but then again could’ve been created out of random drawings that conveniently came into the shape of a deer and octopuses with the artist just going with it. I’d saw the drawing is about meaning because it can symbolize a lot of things, like how many unconnected things can all come together into one big picture. After viewing the detail of the drawing my outlook stays the same because in the end it’s still a lot of smaller pictures coming together into one big picture.

My first impression of this drawing was that it used a lot of curvy lines I think in doing so it gave the image a bit of demension and for me it was quite hard to look at because it looked as if there was a lot of things going on at once but overall I enjoyed looking at it. The strongest elements of drawing I think were line, shape, demension, value , contrast and form. In this drawing the artist used lines to give it more of a demension and clean. The subject matter of this drawing is the feeling we get when we look at this drawing to me it was kind of scarry it but to others it can be a way that they feel. In my opinion this was a complex drawing because there was a lot of neatness in this drawing because although there was a lot of things going on it feels like everything is in place and it belongs there. In class we are currently drawing curves and at first I thought curves weren’t really common in artist drawings but now I see there are multiple types of curves and this was a great example.I belive this drawing is required a lot of skills but maybe the artist was trying to convey a message within this and maybe not practice a skill.
I agree that this drawing took lots of skill and is more importantly trying to convey a message.

ReplyDeleteMy first impression when looking at this drawing is that it’s very confusing, full, and detailed. Some of the stronger elements of this drawing are contrast, value, texture, and line. Contrast is an element of this drawing because the background is one color and the focal point is another, therefore, the audience if able to distinguish the differences in the two. Value is also used because there’s various tones of lightness and darkness. Texture is also an element of the art piece because you’re able to see the fur of the goat. The artist mostly uses curved lines to create the goat and the octopus and also all the items in the background. I believe this is a complex drawing, because it contains different animals and people in the background and even inside the animals. Yukhanyan’s art piece resembles what we are currently doing in class, because he created a focal point that then lead us to the rest of the drawing. I would agree that this drawing required a lot of skill to complete because many tiny drawings make up the big picture. But I would not agree that this drawing is more about skill and process rather than the subject or meaning. I think that even though it looks difficult there must be an even more deeper meaning to it. After viewing the more close up images, I am incredibly fascinated at how much is inside the overall drawing. I still think that the subject and meaning makes up a lot of the drawing, but now I think that the skill and process is equally as important.
I agree when you said that this drawing must have a deep meaning.

Upon my first look at the art piece, that first thing I noticed was that the image was blurry and I did not like that. But even with the blurriness I could still make out the carefully shaded and detailed deer, though I think it resembles more a goat with long horns than a deer. My first expression or reaction was that the image seemed very well blended and that the white background helped with the standing out of the dark contrast. Also why there is octopi on the deer/goat anomaly. But I won’t question it. As what I can tell the stronger elements that are being used in the drawing is the usage of line and contrast to build the shape of the image. Such as the contrast from the that thin lines of the background to the focal point of the deer/goat hybrid. The focus and subject matter of the drawing is the deer and the intertwined slippery octopi. By the intercrate and smooth flow of the drawing I believe that the image is quite complex, and took many rough drafts to get the final result. Also, thinking of the best positions to incorporate the sucking octopi on the deer/goat big horned animal. Yukhanyan's drawing resembles what we are leaning in the process of us creating lines to make shapes and an illustration, also the usage of curves and shading. Also I believe that since in our class we have created more than one draf, I think that the illustration by Yukhanyan was not the first draft either and took time and practice. Diving into skills, I believe that it takes an amount of time to get to this level by looks of the carefully planned out lines. Also, I think that the drawing itself cries and sheds the amount of detail, creating a meaning to take a closer look at things. After further inspection, my appreciation for the artwork has grown by the meticulous amount of details. And my thoughts on the octo-wired deer/goat oddity have remained.
I agree with kim about the animal looking like a goat with long horns. I also agree that the octopus being on the deer strikes confusion.

My first impression on the drawing is “Why are these two different animals together?” The stronger elements in the drawing that I notice is contrast and line. Contrast is an element in the drawing because the three animals stand out from the drawing. The artist uses line to make literally everything that forms the overall drawing. This drawing is complex because the strist has to think of what is going to be placed where in order to form the overall drawing. Yukhanyan’s drawing resembles what we’re doing in class because the artist made the goat the focal point and then led me to the other parts of the drawing. I tagree this took lots of skill to complete but i also think that the subject and meaning was an important part of the drawing as well. After viewing the images I think that this must’ve taken a lot of time and thinking to complete.
I agree with most of your comment that the drawing took a lot of thought and skill to create.
DeleteI agree with you because he has used contrast to put many animals in one animal body and two different species from different habitats in one piece of art. It also does seem complex because it's seems as he had to sketch many other drawings to complete this one and it's very detailed making it very difficult to create, it must take a lot of time to make due to its shapes and it's sizes.
DeletePeriod 6
ReplyDeleteMy first impression of this drawing is that it is a well done, detailed drawing of a goat and two octopuses on it. As I started to observe it longer, I began to notice the drawings of people and animals in the background and within the goat and octopuses. This made me realize that it is more meticulous than I originally thought. The stronger elements of this art are line, value, and shape. Value is used this drawing through the shadings that give it depth. There are varying amounts of lightness and darkness that give it contrast. Shape is present because there is a 3 dimensional perception in the drawing. This is done with the help of value which adds depth to give it the illusion of shape. Line is the main element used throughout the drawing because it is used to create all the animals and people in the background and the main drawing. It is the most basic but most significant element used. The subject matter of this art piece is the simple drawings within the goat and octopuses that can be used to create something greater and much more complicated. This is a complex drawing for that reason. Yukhanyan’s art piece resembles what we are doing in class because we are learning to use simple lines and curves only to create drawings that have complexity. I would agree that this requires a lot of skill to create because you have to know how to place the drawings within to create the main piece. There has to be an idea of the drawing from the beginning. I think this drawing is more about meaning than skill. While it is a really meticulous drawing, it seems to tell a story with a deeper meaning.
Alejandro Gomez Per.4
ReplyDeleteThis is a really nice art piece never thought I would see a photo with more meanings within it. I believe that contrast, line, and shape are the strongest elements being used in this art work because the shapes are different also continued just dufferent sizes Also contrast because of how it’s zoomed in a lot also zoomed out as well with lines. The artist uses line by creating many parts of the horns and also in many drawings with in the animals that are smaller. I feel like the subject matter is showing us how the world is all connected to one thing and we are so scared of letting go so we stick on to it like octopuses. This is a complex drawing because they put lots of thinking to this drawing and didn’t just draw till they got something it probably took lots of time to come up with it then finally draw it. He is resembling what we are doing in class by creating images within a certain place just how we are creating images within frames. I believe this takes much skill to complete Because it is not something you can just create randomly, yes it’s more on the skill and process Bcs it took him time to create it and thinking of why to put in it.

My first impression of this work is that it looked really interesting. Nothing else really struck my interest first hand other than trying to get a feel of weather there could be some deeper meaning behind it. Some of the stronger elements in this piece are line, shape, contrast, texture, value and form. This artist uses line by creating lines that eventually create shape throughout the paper. The subject matter is the ammount of work that has been put into this piece. This is a complex drawing with the ammount of shading, animal proportion, ect. I believe almost every drawing takes a long time to complete, this being one of them. I believe there is more to this drawing than the meaning, the process stands out more.

At first glance my eyes are caught by the octopus on the goat’s back. Why would it be there? Then I see the almost expressionless face of the ibex and the longhorns, in a way it makes me feel, it’s impossible. The stronger elements would be, line, shape, contrast, texture, space, and value. There are lines everywhere mostly thin, long and curvy to achieve the shape of each animal in the drawing. Shape is used in the formation of the animals, specially the ibex, texture is used to create the animals properties such as fur, horns, succulents and hooves. Both contrast, value and space make the ibex look realistic, meaningful having it be the main attraction alongside its two octopi and the elements hides the small drawings before your eye recognizes the amass detail the artist had put into the artpiece. The subject matter are the animals and humans drawn. The drawing is complex, sure it's possible to practice drawing small but you have to know how to draw each image in a way that it creates something bigger than itself. Additionally the patience and focus to draw the image must of taken days or weeks. This resembles what we are currently doing in class because we are using lines over and over in order to practice so we can apply the knowledge later to creating a similar art piece like YUkhanyan did. When viewing the images it confirm the details I saw in the larger image by giving me a chance to view them closer so my answers to the questions wouldn’t change. Although I will note, that viewing the close ups of the drawing, made me feel more like an atom or just another object/ organism in this enormormous world .

My first impression of this art piece was automatically hooked. The crossing between a octopus and a goat was a very interesting subject and I questioned what the meaning behind the piece was. I think the strongest element in the drawing us contrast based on my first impression. The drawing is black and white so a lot of thought in contrast had to be used in order to get the realistic look that piece is going for. The artist also needed to use line for this drawing in order to make contrast . I believe the subject matter based on my first impression is contrast between realistic things. Similar to how the drawing is made, I think that the artist also uses contrast in their subject matter because a goat is usually found on dry land and a octopus lives in the ocean. This piece is a complex drawing because of its skill use in line and contrast. There is a lot of definition and detail when creating this piece which is why it's a complex one.Yukhanyan's drawing repeats the use of line that we are learning out in class. This is a complex piece but also rather simple because it just depends on your use in line . Based on my first impression i believe that this piece was more about meaning and subject because i would figure it's pretty simple to make as long as you know how to work with like and how to create contrast.
Looking in closer to the drawing i can now see the amount of detail that was incorporated into the piece. I now definitely think that this piece had more to do with skill and process because the artist had to add smaller drawing and think about proportions in addition to contrast and line. The amount of smaller detailed drawings into this piece make it even more complex because more elements and principles are being added.
Evan, I admire your ability to think outside the box. Especially the part where you picked up the part about the contrast between land animals and sea animals. Great job.

My first impression of this drawing was that it seems to be only a goat and 2 octopuses but when u look around, you can see something else in the background. “What is it ?” The stronger elements on this drawing are contrast, line and shape. Contrast because the drawing is in black and white only. Line because of both straight and curved lines used for all the different animals drawn. Shape because it is used to draw the animals. The artist uses line by creating different shapes and by not only sticking to one form of line but many more. Like straight lines and curved lines. The subject matter of this drawing is the goat and the octopuses, which is in the center of the drawing. This is a complex drawing because of how he makes the three animals the main focus but then within the animals and in the background there are other smaller animals that you don’t see until after the main focus. Yukhanyan resembles what we are currently doing in class because right now in class, we are currently working on our straight and curved lines drawing and Yukhanyan used both straight and curved lines in his drawing. Yes, I would agree that this drawing required a lot of skill to complete it. I think this drawing is more about the subject and meaning rather than skill and process because there has to be a reason why the artist chose to draw what he drew. Also because why he chose to draw smaller animals within bigger animals and why did he choose to make the goat and octopuses the main focus. My outlook on the drawing changed because I was able to see clearly the background and what animals were used. My answers to the above questions didn’t change.
I have to agree with you on the way you mention how it kust have been more about meaning due to all the little figures in the background which you beleive must mean something. I also beleive that in that they must have a purpose as to why he decides to add in the extrawork to infuse it into the piece.

My first impression of the drawing when I looked at it I was amazed by it and how detailed it is. The artist made it seem as if the whole image was suppose to focus on the goat and the two octopuses because of how the shading is only dark around the two. The stronger elements is the shaping and lines and texture. Yukhanyan uses lines as a way to create the shape of the goat and octopus and to create the whole image. The subject matter of the drawing is that the way Yukhanyan uses the elements, we are doing the same with how we are learning to use the elements. Yukhanyan’s drawing is very complex due to the artist wanting the drawing to have more to it with every detailed put all together. Yukhanyan’s resemble of what we are doing in class is the lines and curvy ones and learning how to work with the elements and principles. Yes I would agree that this drawing would require lots of skills to complete it, I for one feel that with the skills I have right now don’t think I have the skills required to complete the drawing. I think the drawing has a meaning behind it because to me all art has some to type of meaning or inspiration. My outlook on the drawing has changed a bit due to seeing the images a lot closer. The drawing is beautifully and carefully detailed to make up the form of an alpine ibex with two octopi clinging towards it. When I first looked at it, I love the way the artist decided to pose the ibex in side position, you get to see the whole body and it’s proportions. This drawing has many elements because of how complex it looks, the surreal detail and intensity of the shading. Two of the elements most easily detected would be lines and organic shapes. The drawings within the ibex are made up of lines, some placed closely together and others with space inbetween.
Just like Yukhanyan, we are using lines to make up drawings of our own. He uses them to create more detail, give it contrast and shading while we’re currently just using it to practice using lines. This piece would require a tremendous amount of skill to complete. I think it’d be more about skill and process, because someone would probably have to have patience to complete something like this. I’ve never seen anyone use this technique before, so it’s entrancing for me to see all the minor details that went into this piece.
I love the way you gave me a new perspective on the drawing as a whole and how you viewed the beautiful artistry on which the artist took such detail to create. And I have agree with you on the amount of skill work the artist must have aquired into embed it into the art.
DeleteGreat analysis.
DeleteMy first impression to this art was asking questions of curiosity as to what drove the artist to create this piece. Why did he choose the long horn goat, or the octopi? Either way when I saw this, apart from the questions, I found it really incredible to see what kind of art someone would create to be so different from other works. When creating the distinctive art piece, it seems as though he used line, contrast, space, shape, depth, and texture to create the work in order to give it that overall idea that he was going for. The artist uses line all around even in the background when creating the small figures and images. He used curve lines to give it shape and depth along with giving it depth by casting and adding shadows to certain parts with contrast of using white and black shades. I have to say that the subject matter would be not only the goat and the octopus’ but the message behind it that the artist is conveying. I believe that the drawing is complex due to also having more than just a centerpiece and having abstract images covering the backdrop of the goat and octopi. Also it covers many of the principles and elements that we are covering in class adding to its complexity. I cannot fully say whether it relied more on skill although skill is obviously intertwined into the creation of it but due to the images in the background and the use of such different species embedded into the art I believe it had something to convey into the work as well. After reviewing the images of the work being broken down into pieces my point of view on it has only changed to astonishment and value of it as seeing it as something more amazing in the detail it wen to create it. However it just gives me more questions to add on.

DeleteI agree with Diana on why the artist chose these two creatures of all others. Maybe something attracted the artist to these two in a way that spoke to him.
The stronger elements of this drawing is value because that is what I see more. I see it going from light to dark. This artist use line by creating little pictures in the back and for shading. The subject of matter is the animal. I think that this is a complex drawing because you have to be a really good artist in order to draw and complete this. My first impression of this drawing was that was there’s a goat and an octopus. The strongest elements of this drawing is the textures, color, contrast, and line. This shows that by using the correct elements it helps the audience identify meaning to the art and what’s the purpose of the image. This art use lines by creating curves and shapes. By this it demonstrates proportion and shading and causing for the image to stand out. The subject matter of this drawing is an image of a culture. This drawing is a complex one because it took the artist to use it’s techniques and time by using elements and principles. ReplyDeleteMy first impression of this drawing is that it has a really interesting and cool design. The stronger elements that the artist uses line, contrast, and shape to create the 3-D effect of the drawing. The artist uses curved line in the entire drawing forming the design of the goat and other objects in the picture. The artist uses contrast by using the colors black and white only. Yukhanyan uses shape by forming the animals the way they are such as the octopus's head which was formed by using a circle. The subject matter of this drawing is the goat. This drawing seems very complex since it looks very descriptive in adding the different animals and objects in and out of the goat. Yukhanyan resembles what we are doing in class by using lines to create shape and a 3-d effect. I do believe that this drawing took lots of skill to do. ReplyDeleteThe first thing that comes to mind when I see this image is “What on earth is going on here?” I think the strongest elements in this drawing has to be the shading of the octopi and the goat it’s an attention grabber and the amount of think drawing of people and other animals in the background. The artist uses line to draw the funky looking characters In the back, most of them are squiggly and most of them have a lot of very interesting patterns. In my eyes this is a complex drawing due to the crazy amounts of shading and the patterns of characters in the back. Yukahnya’s piece is related to what we do in class because it has a lot of line and patterns and many different types of elements in the drawing. I believe this drawing did not take skill but in fact it took crazy amounts of imagination, to me art is just pictures someone thinks about in their head and they just throw on into a canvas.
(P.S.I know I know i have turned in this assignment in late and I apologise for not keeping track of time, I procrastinated a lot and that was wrong of me. This is going to be the last time this happens)
When first looking at the picture it looked very sinister. The dark colors makes the image appeal that way too. Some strong elements in this picture is the contrast, form and shape. By contrasting the white and black the picture stands out. The little drawing in the background also create a contrast. The form of the deer, octopuses and the little figures in the back have many shapes and sizes. The different shapes make the picture on it’s own stand out because of all the details it has. The author uses line to make all the details in the picture and to make some areas darker than others. The contrast makes the images like the octopuses, deer and little images in the back. The subject of matter is the deer and the two octopuses. This drawing is a complex one because of all the parts needed to make the whole picture. Like the little drawings of of people or objects then the deer, then the octopuses. Yukhanyan drawing resembles what we are doing in class because he used a lot of line and curves to make his drawing. This drawing does requires a lot of skill to complete. Yes, this drawing is more skill and process because of all the details and shading in the drawing.
ReplyDeleteAfter observing the images up closer I have realized that the drawing can hold a meaning. The little images on the octopuses and deer can hold a lot of meaning. I now think that the drawing requires skill, process and meaning. I see that the subject is not actually the deer but what the deer is made up of. The drawing at first glance looks really scary by the more you analyze you realized the scary vibe holds a huge meaning. These close up pictures made me realize that the bigger picture and or meaning is held sometimes in the obvious. I thought the whole picture was the deer but looking closer you see the small images. The meaning the the picture gradually increases.
I agree that this drawing is very complex because there is much more smaller details/images being held inside larger parts of the drawing.
DeleteI agree that this drawing must have been complex because the artist left no blank space and took his time to add all the detail to his piece of art

My first impression of this drawing was “WOW” how can someone be this creative with their art piece. It was just fascinating imagine the time it took to make all those details it just blew me away. The strongest elements of this drawing was texture, color, line, and value. The way value/ texture is being used on this particular animal is on the horns they look extremely rough and the muscles on the animal. The way color is being used is the lightness and darkness. Line is used is used to make the legs, horns, body, and the other animals in this image. The subject could be from the artist childhood.
This a complex drawing because the artist added so much detail. When you look at it from a distance your probably thinking another animal, but when you look at the drawing closely you see the detail the artist has put into the piece. To me this resembles the exact same thing we are doing in class by drawing things that way look like one thing but might not be anything to other human specimens, but who knows.
I agree with you because in the first drawing I just saw a goat and octopuses but I then saw the close ups and was amazed at how much detail the artist but in it
DeleteMy first impression of this drawing was a little frightening because it has this eerie feeling to it when I analyzed the animal and how many other animals their were. It does fascinate me how the artist was able to somehow develop a whole picture with many animals together in one picture. I believe the strongest element that is shown in the drawing is texture, color, line, and value. I see it especially in the horns of the animal, and the slimy feel in the octopus/squid. The color is black and white and it gives a sense of contrast to the animals. Line is used in the creation of the animal, especially in the legs, horns, and body mass. This could have a subject about his childhood and how he went through, probably their are not exactly animals but feelings you feel.
ReplyDeleteI believe this is a complex drawing because of how in afar, you may look it another way, but the more that you look at it, it show more in the eye. To me it resembles my drawings i'm creating because at first you really can't tell, but more that you look at it. You can see where I'm getting at and the picture i'm trying to portray.
I agree that this drawing is very complex because there is so much detail occurring if you pay close attention.
DeleteMy first impression was dang a lot is going on in this drawing . The stronger elements to me are the lines because how different he have to draw them and the shading. The artist use line in this drawing by using a lot of thin or thick lines leading our eyes to follow the whole drawing around .This is a complex drawing because a lot is going on and if you look theres a lot of different animals all over . Yes i believe this drawing took a lot of skill although i believe if people tried really hard they may not be able to do it perfect but they might be able to do something similar if they really tried .

My first impression on this drawing was surprised. I was surprised at how much detail was put onto this art. The stronger elements of this drawing are space and texture. Space is being shown by including room between the drawings in the picture. Texture is being shown by including much detail to the drawing. The artists uses line by including it in the animals. The subject matter of this drawing is the two octopuses and the Goat. I believe this is a complex drawing because there is a lot of detail occurring in each part. Yukhanyan resembles what we are doing in class because we are learning about the different elements that a drawing can include. I would highly agree that is drawing required a lot of skill to complete and that this drawing is more about skill and process rather than the meaning. After viewing the images up close, I still believe this drawing is more about skill than the subject. My answers to the questions did not change.

My first impression of this drawing was how long must this piece of art took this man to create. I believe that the elements most strongly used are comtrast, line, and shapes because he has two different species with different habitats in one drawing and uses many shapes to create the body shapes of both the octopuses and the deer in this drawing. He uses line to make the bodies of the animals such as the horns ,bellies, and 8 tentacles. The subject matter of this are based of the drawings we are practicing to create drawings like this. I believe this drawing is complex because you must have a very creative mind to even think of these two animals being in one drawing and adding more animals into the bigger animals body for example I see reptiles and more mammals that look similar to the deer and fishes to the octopus. In class we are learning how to makes shapes and lines. The such elements that can be found clearly in this drawing.

My first impression to this drawing was astonishment. A strong element in this drawing is the contrast because there is a lot of shading which makes up the shadows. The artist uses lines to make the goat more real like, he added what is seems to be fur with lines,he also adds small detail to his art. This drawing is a complex one because of the small details added to it, it takes time to complete this piece of art. Yukhanyan's resembles what we are doing in class because the artist uses contrast lines both straight and wavy and uses proportion to draw the goat. I do believe this drawing required a lot of skill to complete. The drawing is about skill and progress but the drawing also has meaning to it because of the time and patience put in it. After viewing the close up of the drawing I am amazed at all details hidden in the drawing. I still believe that the drawing is about skill and progress but also has meaning to it I say this because the small details that the artist added must have meaning and a purpose.
I agree with you because I was astonished as well.

At first glance I thought this drawing just consisted of a goat and two octopi , but once I zoomed in and looked at the different elements in the background I noticed there's more animals, people, and what appears to be people with animal heads. The stronger elements are line, contrast, and movement. Yukhanyan uses line by creating the different animals and people. He uses contrast by only using black and white. There is movement because your eyes move along the painting and is not just focused on one place. This is a complex drawing because there is so many little details throughout the whole drawing. He represents what we are currently doing in class because we will have to do a project that has both straight and curvy lines. I do think this drawing required a lot of skill to complete just by the look of detail, but I also agree that it had to do with process and meaning.

My first impression was “woah”,I said that because of the details put throughout the entire artwork, but mostly amazed by the smaller details placed on the goat. I believe the stronger elements of the drawing include contrast because of the color differences, and also emphasis because there are lots of spots in this drawing than can attract our eyes, for example,I see in the comments that the octopus caught peoples attention at first glance,on the other hand I first saw the goats head. The artist uses lines to create depth and other minor details throughout the drawing. I personally believe this is a complex drawing because I can’t imagine how much time and patience this artwork took, even the additional background details. Yukhanyan's artwork reflects on the combination and use of straight and curvy lines we are currently using in class. If anything, this artwork requires more patience and time but I guess it is also accompanied by skill. So I agree that this artwork is mostly skill and process beacause of the detail put into it. After viewing the follow up pictures my answers still remain the same.
I agree with you because the smaller details had me shook and how detailed the drawing is overall.

ReplyDeleteMy first impression of the drawing is the way the artist incorporated different ways to illustrate different types of waves/curves in different types of animals and how the artist put different little individual drawings of animals inside the actual animals. I believe the stronger elements of the drawing are that the artist successfully uses contrast to distinguish the different individual drawings inside the main drawing. Another strong element of the drawing the artist uses is using lines to give the piece dimension. The artist uses line to attract and make the audience follow the different lines as well as like I mentioned before that it gives the piece dimension. The author also uses lines to set apart the different animals from the focal point which is the goat. I believe this drawing is a complex drawing because you can tell how much work, effort and time the artist put into this piece of art making all the many elements work to make it. The artist’ artwork resembles what we are doing in class at the moment by using proportion to show the different drawing inside the focal point. I agree that this drawing required A LOT of skill to complete as well as that this drawing is more about skill and process because you can tell that the artist put a lot of effort and time to complete this piece of art. After viewing the images, my outlook on the drawing has not changed because it shows a lot more clearly how the author put a lot of details into the artwork. None of my answer have changed.
