Hello all,

I hope that you enjoy working on this during your holiday break.  This assignment is a continuation of our unit on portraits.  This will cover Japanese Animation or Manga Style, as it is more commonly known.

Your OBJECTIVE:

You will be able to synthesize your knowledge of line, shape, form, and recently acquired knowledge of facial features in order to create a unique Manga style portrait that incorporates detailed facial features, correct proportion, and hairstyle with the help of several Manga style sample portraits.

Materials you will need:
  • Pencil
  • Blank paper (no lines)
  • Eraser
  • Black Pen or Sharpie
  • Markers, colored pencils, or?

YOUR TASK: CREATE A PORTRAIT IN MANGA STYLE
 It must include the following:
  • convincing facial expression
  • accurate proportions of eyes, nose, mouth, and ears
  • specific hairstyle
  • one other interesting element
  • must NOT be an exact copy of one of the samples

  • How is it different from yours?
  • Ask questions
  • This should be at least 2 sentences.
